Antonio Forenza, PhD, is an entrepreneur, inventor, and results-oriented executive with over 20 years of experience in telecommunications, DSP/AI, and mobile technology. He has built software and hardware products for 3G, 4G, and 5G cellular infrastructures, generated IP for cloud-native 6G networks, and led engineering teams in both startups and multinational corporations.
Before founding AWEAR, Antonio served as Senior Vice President of R&D at Rakuten Symphony, where he led IP management, standardization, and R&D lab development. Prior to that, he co-founded Artemis Networks, pioneering Distributed Massive-MIMO vRAN technology for 5G mobile networks and achieving a 10x connectivity speed improvement during its deployment at the San Jose Sharks arena. Earlier in his career, he contributed to groundbreaking innovations in MIMO technology for LTE and WiMAX across both startups and global corporations.
Antonio holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. He is an inventor with over 250 patents issued worldwide, has made significant contributions to wireless standards, and authored numerous IEEE publications.
His passion for neuroscience and years of mindfulness meditation inspired him to create AWEAR, a cutting-edge wearable for emotional well-being. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Antonio is an FAA-certified private pilot (IFR) and serves as a volunteer Captain with the Civil Air Patrol.
